It was an emotional moment for most fans of Late Star actress Rachel Oniga, as they saw her glow in A Naija Christmas, the movie by Netflix and the last movie the actress featured in before her demise on July 30. The veteran actress was on the set of the production when she took ill and eventually died from what close family sources say was a heart related illness.

Produced and directed by prolific filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, A Naija Christmas, which is dedicated to Rachel Oniga, started streaming on Netflix on December 16. Netflix had recently released the trailer for the movie, which follows three sons on their quest to make their mother’s Christmas wish for daughters-in-law come true.

Oniga played the mother who, unimpressed by her sons’ refusal to get married and give her grandchildren, demands that they bring home their partners on Christmas Day. Other actors in the movie include Carol King, Mercy Johnson, Kunle Remi, Efa Iwara, Linda Osifo, Ade Laoye, Uzoamaka Aniuhoh, Segilola Ogidan, Jude Chukwuka and Joseph Jaiyeoba with special appearance by fuji musician Pasuma.

Director of the movie Kunle Afolayan described the movie as real, original and funny. In his words, “A Naija Christmas is real, original, funny and the first Christmas movie of its kind. Working with the late, great Rachel Oniga was massive honour and her heartwarming performance is typical of her flawless artistry.”
