Mohbad’s Death; Threats, And Police Investigations

Following the death of Nigerian rapper Mohbad, emerging details suggest that Mohbad had reported the threats to his life to the police before his death.

The 27-year-old singer had written a petition letter to the police following the alleged the Sam Larry Elegushi assault.

The letter dated 2nd June, 2023, which was two days after the alleged assault, detailed that about 15 men had come on to the location of his music shoot carrying guns and machetes and disrupting the production of his music video.

In the letter, Mohbad urged the police to bring the perpartrators to book.

Following his petition, nothing was heard of it.

Mohbad’s Letter And Response From Benjamin Hundeyin

A copy of the letter was shared and the current PRO of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, was tagged along with it on the “X” app formerly known as Twitter. 

However, in response to the ongoing issue of whether the police was careless about the late singer’s petition, Hundeyin, a superintendent of police, replied to the copy of the letter now circulating. 

He wrote: “The @LagosPoliceNG is headed by a Commissioner of Police. This petition was taken to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos office, headed by a superior officer, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

Mohbad died on the 12th of September 2023, and various reasons have been linked as the cause of death.

While accusations have gone in the directions of his fellow singers, some reports are suggesting that his demise was due to carelessness on the part of the police and the law enforcement agency’s nonchalant attitude in dealing with the complaint laid forward by the late entertainer. 

What the Nigeria Police had said so far

The Nigerian Police Force had responded, following the social media revelation about the late singer’s death, and his alleged petition concerning threats to his life.

The police, through it’s FPRO, wrote on it’s official X Account;
