After a very busy year that saw him do great exploits within and outside the country, singer Wizkid wrapped up the successful year with an exclusive concert at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The show, which brought together fans of the Ojuelegba singer, played host to some of the leading figures in the country’s showbiz industry.

As the crowd waited for action to resume of stage, DJ Neptune kept the room lively with popular tunes that got many swinging to the rhythm.

But as soon as Basketmouth, who hosted the gig mounted the stage, the crowd roared in excitement.

To set the tone for the evening, Basketmouth treated guests to some of his jaw breaking jokes. By the time he made his return on stage, it was time for Wizkid to make his first appearance.

Clad in a pink jacket, Wizkid, who opened with Sweet Love said, “Today, it’s a different kind of show and I just want you to enjoy it.”

He performed tracks such as Fever and Come Closer. However in his usual fashion reminiscent of what he did at his concert in 2017, Wizkid asked that the fans at the regular section be brought to the front of the stage.

He later resumed his performance singing Daddy Yo, Tease Me, Baba Nla and The matter featuring Maleek.

His second outing saw his Manya and Pakurumo with the audience cheering and asking for more.

The next few minutes witnessed a number of supporting performances from Chinko Ekun, who entertained guests with his viral record, Able God. Wizkd then returned on stage to perform Malo alongside Tiwa Savage, who he described as a “very special woman.’”

Other notable artistes such as Teni, Dammy Krane, Skepta also got slots to entertain the crowd before Wizkid and his crew wrapped up the show with Fake Love to Ojuelegba and Soco.

Having announced the dates for his concert and exclusive event, fans have been eagerly anticipating these events, as Wizkid set out to end his remarkable year on a high.

The event, however, did not disappoint, with Star Boy providing an electric performance that will live long in the memories of all in attendance.

The exclusive event had in attendance some of Nigeria’s elites and provided a cool calm ambiance to go with the non-stop entertainment provided by Wizkid and other top-notch performances.

The concert was a rather unique offering, as it provided fans the opportunity to experience the Afro-pop sensation without the typical hordes of fans at his concerts.

As part of Star’s sponsorship of the event, the brand provided a Star Corner at the venue, where fans were refreshed with the premium taste of Star Lager as they participated in a number of fun activities for a chance to win an autographed football signed by top players in European football.

After a year in which Star made major inroads in the sports scene with a landmark partnership with the NFF and its successful NCP, its sponsorship of this event was a show of continued support for Music, stemming from its music platforms such Star Trek and Star Mega Jam.

Speaking at the event the Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Emmanuel oriakhi, expressed his delight at seeing the beer brand successfully sponsor the exclusive event.

“Wizkid is one of the biggest acts from our country, and Star Lager Beer takes pride in encouraging as well as celebrating national treasures like him. We are a proudly Nigerian beer brand, brewed to finest standards, and Wizkid’s success across Africa and the world is proof that our local talents and resources are of great quality.”
