Singer and former PSquare member, Peter Okoye, has fired back at his elder brother and ex-manager, Jude Okoye, saying being older doesn’t automatically mean he deserves respect.
The fresh war of words began on Friday after Jude posted a cryptic message on Instagram, accusing unnamed people of betrayal, greed, and blackmail.
According to Jude, those he once supported with his platform turned their backs on him after they gained fame and fortune. He claimed they later tried to paint him as a fraud to destroy him.
“They all have one thing in common: they were big, influential, and successful when I was shouldering them with my platform until they got greedy and wanted to eat alone and so left,” he wrote.
He added, “They never complained afterward… rather, they bragged about their ‘newfound freedom’… Years down the line they fell off… instead of accepting responsibility… they are pointing fingers at the same person they left for their ‘freedom’.”
Jude also alleged that they tried to “blackmail” him with false stories of fraud and money laundering to get him jailed.
Peter, also known as Mr P, wasted no time in replying. In a fiery post on X (formerly Twitter), he tackled Jude’s claims one after the other and questioned his brother’s attitude towards him.
“JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE OLDER, DOESN’T MEAN YOU DESERVE RESPECT. RESPECT IS EARNED, NOT GIVEN,” he wrote.
Peter claimed Jude had previously mocked him and even wished him financial failure, adding that Jude once lied to EFCC officials during a past encounter.
“These are the exact same words you told the EFCC officials. And you ended up getting locked up in prison. Of course, you have to come up with another narrative,” he said.
Peter also shut down claims that Jude was the one “shouldering” the PSquare brand, reminding him that he was only hired as a manager.
“You were shouldering who? Agbaya, you were employed as a manager by Peter and Paul and you got sacked the same as the other two managers before you. Period!”
He revealed that his solo career has brought him more peace and profit than his time with PSquare, despite having to share earnings with Paul and Jude back then.
“This solo journey has been a blessing—more rewarding and profitable, both financially and personally, no doubt. And it has also brought me peace of mind.”
On the legal front, Peter confirmed they are still in court and directly asked Jude to come clean.
“Despite the fact we are in court! You still haven’t answered the question, ARE YOU A THIEF OR NOT? Ndi ori.”
He ended the post with a firm warning, saying he is done being silent and polite in the face of disrespect.
“I have stopped playing nice and being the mature one while getting disrespected!… Life isn’t about begging people for fair treatment! It’s about matching energy… Tit for tat!”
The public clash is the latest in the Okoye family saga, which contributed to the breakup of PSquare in 2017.
Although Peter and Paul reconciled in 2021, the issues with Jude appear far from resolved.
