In a description of the ailment by Mayo clinic, “Hydrocephalus is the buildup of fluid in the cavities (ventricles) deep within the brain. The excess fluid increases the size of the ventricles and puts pressure on the brain.”
Hydrocephalus can happen at any age, more frequently among infants. 50% of affected sufferers die before three years of age and roughly 80% die before entering adulthood.
