Nigerian Rapper A-Q Up For Two Awards At The 2021 All African Music Awards

A-Q Nominated For Best African Rapper/Lyricist, Best Artist, Duo, or Group in African Hip Hop.

The God’s Engineering rapper was nominated in the Best African Rapper/Lyricist and Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Hip Hop categories.

The latter nomination is for his single ‘Breathe’ featuring Chike.

A-Q’s latest album Golden was released in May to a critical claim and followed in the step of his 2020 album God’s Engineering.

“I had to take off the suits for this one,” he added, alluding to the album cover of God’s Engineering in which he was pictured dressed in a black suit.

“Having the most powerful voice in Hip-Hop right now means I always have to live up to it,” A-Q said after Golden was released. “My new project is dear to me, and I hope it travels far and is deeply felt by everyone who listens to it.”

In the Best African Rapper/Lyricist category, A-Q will be up against two other Nigerians – Vector and Ladipoe – and one rapper each from Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, and Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, and Ghana.

Wizkid leads the Nigerian delegation at the awards with six nominations. He is followed by Omah Lay with four and Burna Boy with three nominations.

Apart from A-Q other Nigerian artists with two nominations include Cavemen, Adekunle Gold, Ladipoe, and Yemi Alade.

The awards will be held in Lagos from November 19 to 21.
