Burna Boy tops Nigeria’s Apple Music Chart

Burna Boy has emerged as the most-streamed Nigerian artiste on Apple Music, according to a fresh list released by the platform as Nigeria celebrated its 64th Independence Day.

Apple Music marked the occasion with a special theme, ‘Oshe Naija,’ recognising the country’s rich musical contributions.

In a statement on its app, Apple Music noted, “As Nigeria marks 64 years of independence in 2024, music emanating from the country continues to sweep the world.”

The statement also highlighted  Nigeria’s diverse music culture, saying, “Far from being a monolith, the country’s musical scene is a blend of various cultural threads, all contributing to Nigeria’s unique mix of community, art, and expression.”

From the bustling streets of Lagos to the peaceful terrains of Taraba, this year’s ‘Oshe Naija’ shines a light on Nigeria’s vast musical talent, exploring the sounds and regions that have shaped them.
Burna Boy claimed the top spot as the most-streamed Nigerian artiste, followed by Wizkid and Davido. Wizkid’s 2020 album Made In Lagos was named the most-streamed Nigerian album, while Rema’s hit Calm Down remix featuring Selena Gomez holds the title of the most-streamed Nigerian song of all time on the platform.
