Poju Oyemade, the Senior Pastor of The Covenant Nation and organizer of The Platform Nigeria has refuted the claims made by Rev. Fr. Chinenye Oluoma, a Catholic priest from the Abuja Archdiocese, regarding gospel superstar Mercy Chinwo charging fees to sing at churches.

Oyemade, known for hosting discussions on nation-building and development through The Platform Nigeria, including notable speakers like former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, took to his verified Twitter account on Thursday to dismiss the false and harmful statement made by Fr. Oluoma in an online video.

In his tweet, Oyemade clarified, “Mercy Chinwo sang at our service in Lekki last Sunday, and the honorarium we provided was entirely at our discretion. She did not make any formal charges.”

Oyemade directly responded to a report in which Fr. Oluoma alleged that Chinwo demanded 10 million naira to minister at worship centres, criticizing gospel musicians who ask for exorbitant payments to perform in places of worship.
