Please forgive me – Nkechi Blessing begs TAMPAN
Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has openly apologised to the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) after a long-standing feud from 2021.
The actress, who had a heated social media spat with fellow actor Lege Miami over the Baba Ijesha scandal, faced an indefinite suspension from TAMPAN, along with Iyabo Ojo, for her outspokenness.
In 2021, Blessing and Ojo criticised Baba Ijesha, who was accused of defiling comedian Princess’s teenage daughter. After a protracted legal battle, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo sentenced Baba Ijesha in July 2022 at the Ikeja Special Offences Court.
Following the suspension, TAMPAN veteran Jide Kosoko instructed directors to stop casting Blessing and Ojo.
Blessing, however, stood her ground, mocking TAMPAN’s decision and questioning their authority.
At the Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada today, Blessing took a step by kneeling on stage to offer an emotional apology to TAMPAN President, Mr. Latin.
In a video that quickly made rounds online, she tearfully stated, “I’m so sorry for all that I did. I’m begging from the bottom of my heart. I miss the industry. You all made me who I am today. I am being celebrated all over the world because of you. Please, I’m sorry.”
Fellow actor Odunlade Adekola, who was present, praised Blessing for her humility, while Mr. Latin accepted her apology, signalling an end to the rift.
