Quavo Breaks Silence Over Altercation With Saweetie In Elevator

A surveillance video leaked earlier this week, showing the former couple, Quavo and Saweetie, getting into a tussle with each other at Saweetie’s apartment building in 2020.

At one point in the footage, the Migos star, 30, was seen pushing his ex-girlfriend, 27, to the floor in the lift. In a statement shared to TMZ, he described the incident as ‘unfortunate,’ but insisted that he did not physically abuse his former partner.

He said:

We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned and moved on from. I haven’t physically abused Saweetie and have real gratitude for what we did share overall.

In a video circulating on social media, Quavo was seen dropping an orange case which Saweetie tried to pick up, leading to a struggle as they each reached for it.

Quavo was seen pushing the star to the floor and picking up the case, pressing a button as he looked down at Saweetie, who remained on the floor.

As the doors opened, a man could be seen standing on the other side of the doors but didn’t join the pair in the elevator.

The doors reopened on another floor and Quavo clutched the case as he left the lift, while Saweetie eventually got up and limped off on the same floor.

The Best Friend rapper later spoke out about the clip in a statement released to TMZ, explaining that she and her former beau had ‘moved past’ that particular incident. She said:

This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on.

In October, Quavo, né Quavious Marshall, revealed on Twitter that they first expressed their interest in each other in March 2018, after he sent a snowflake emoji “❄️” to the “ICY GIRL” rap star, née Diamonté Harper, via direct message on Instagram.

She responded soon after with a bowl of noodles emoji, “🍜 ,” which was a fun reference to the Migos’ hit song “Stir Fry.”

Sometimes in March, the duo broke up and posted it on social media, days after they unfollowed each other on social media.
