Drea Kelly, the ex-wife of the embattled singer, R. Kelly in a new interview has claimed that the entertainer’s abusive ways didn’t stop with their divorce as he tries to control her by cutting her off from child support.

According to a report by celebrity gossip site, TMZ, a representative for Drea says Kelly decided to hurt Drea by hitting at her where he knows it would hurt most after she spoke out in June 2018 on a show called “Sister Circle Live”.

During the interview, she alleged the “I Believe I Can Fly” hitmaker was physically and mentally abusive during their marriage. The former lovebirds share three children together and it is gathered that Kelly had sporadically been paying child support but the payments completely stopped after her interview aired on TV.

According to Drea’s team, her career took a hard hit after she had her first kid and Kelly wanted her to be a stay-at-home mom, set strict rules for her and insisted she only works for him. When the marriage hit rock bottom, she was a single mother without a job.

Her team further alleges that Kelly’s unwillingness to take care of his kids was a form of control because he knew damn well she needed his financial support. According to Drea, he chose to pay child support in full sometimes and other times the payments came in late or never did at all.

It would be recalled we reported earlier that Kelly ranted to CBS that he can’t make money because of her abuse allegations and shortly after he was arrested for failure to pay child support.
