President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that the United States would not pay to protect Prince Harry and his wife Meghan if they move to the US.

Trump made the announcement via his official Twitter handle:

“I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom. It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada. Now they have left Canada for the U.S. however, the U.S. will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

But, in an official statement, a Sussex spokesperson said on Sunday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have no plans to ask the US government for security resources. Privately funded security arrangements have been made.

However, this new development has sparked mixed reactions from fans and critics of the couple.
