Multi-award Pop star Rihanna has declined to headline the Superbowl halftime show in support for Colin Kaepernick.

Kaepernick was the first player to kneel down during the US national anthem just before a game to protest the brutality against African Americans meted by the police.

The player who decided to end his contract with the San Franciso 49ers in March 2017, has not been drafted to another team since then and Kaepernick has accused the NFL of blacklisting him.

According to a source close to Rihanna, she does not support NFL position in their lack of support for the quarterback.

Other players who followed suit in kneeling has also said they did that to protest against racial inequality which drew criticism from US president, Donald Trump.

This is not the first time that the NFL had expressed interest in the pop star headlining the Super Bowl but at the time fans said she was not “family friendly.”

Maroon 5 will now perform at the Superbowl instead in February at Atlanta Georgia.

She is not the only one who has shown support for the Quarterback. Kaepernick recently got an endorsement with Nike which attracted a lot of controversy and backlash on Nike.

There has been no comment from the NFL or Rihanna.
