Oh My Rihanna!

When it comes to the Met Gala, Rihanna remains the queen of keeping up with the theme, never holding back with her outfits and totally killing it.

The annual star-studded party raises money for the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute and gives beautiful people a chance to wear extremely beautiful clothes.

Over the years, Rihanna has won the themed looks for fashion’s biggest night in fearless, meme-worthy Met Gala outfits. Last year, she wore a petal-covered avant-garde Rei Kwawkubo look, honouring the Comme des Garçons designer. She also stole the 2015 China: Through The Looking Glass themed show in a yellow fur-trimmed robe by Chinese couturier Guo Pei.

This year, the singer was, yet again, the talk of the Met Gala red carpet, after she showed up to the event dressed like the pope, sticking to the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme.

Her show-stopping outfit featured a tall, intricately beaded headdress that resembled a bishop’s hat, and a long jacket festooned in hundreds of pearls over an embroidered strapless mini dress. The outfit took 250 hours to sew and 500 hours to hand embroider.

Her Maison Margiela look was so convincing, some of her fans added the “Leader of the Catholic Church” title to her resume. They also cast their votes to force the pope to retire and install the beauty mogul as the next pope.

She kept her accessories simple with her black bedazzled pumps, silver rings, a bejewelled crucifix pendant, pearl anklets and a small clutch. Her sleek makeup look included a heavenly highlight, pink lips and purplish smokey eyes.

Her sartorial tribute to Catholicism will go down in the style history books. Can we hear an amen?
