LFDW is finally here!!!

If you’re anything like us, then your toes are wriggling with excitement at what design treats will be fed to us at this year’s Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW).

LFDW 2017 is set to hold on the 25th through 28th October 2017. This year edition, themed “Africa: Shaping Fashion’s Future”, will feature the Fashion Business Series, Fashion Installation, the Runway shows and the #HeinekenLFDW After Party.

LFDW recently released the official fashion week schedule for this year’s event on their Instagram page.

The schedule features Fashion Focus finalists: Imad Eduso, Morafa, Mo Agusto, Emmy Kasbit and Samuel Noon. A few new names were also added along with top designers that will sit out this season.

All of them in order of presentation are: Morafa, 8th Wanda, JZO, Omilua / Titi Belo, Ugo Monye, Eki Orleans, Johnson Johnson, Style Temple, Kinabuti, Amede, Nkwo / Studio 189 and Ejiro Amos Tafiri.

Here is a highlight of some of the designers, both popular and upcoming, set to take to the catwalks at today’s show.

Opening the 2017 LFDW runway show will be the fashion brand MORAFA. Seun Morafa, creative director of the fashion brand, was one of the “Fashion Focused” individuals on our cover this week and we are looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the runway. He became known as an undergraduate in the University of Lagos. His Spring-Summer 2016 collection “Perfect Gentleman” brought a certain sophistication mixed with creativity, zeal and attention to detail.

JZO

JZO Fashion Tokunbo collection

Nigerian contemporary menswear brand, JZO Fashion, is a simple and unique brand influenced by African themes. They released the Autumn-Winter ’17 collection titled Tókúnbo made for the modern Nigerian man, in which the creative director, Ola Akindeinde, drew inspiration from East Asian marshalls.

Ugo Monye

About a week ago, we spotlighted Ugochukwu Monye as one of the designers to really look out for, especially with his recently released Reale Collection.

Johnson Johnson

Menswear brand Johnson Johnson

Bespoke brand Johnson Johnson has its focus on making premium menswear. Oh and we haven’t forgotten the beautiful proposal you pulled off at last year’s show. The red roses and presentation that made us cry. Perhaps there will be more fun this year.

Ejiro Amos Tafiri

Ejiro Amos Tafiri is a brand that has really made a name for herself in the fashion industry. This famous womenswear brand will be closing on Day 1 of the event. We hope they close with a big bang.
