Nigerian chef and restaurateur Hilda Baci has been confirmed as a three-time Guinness World Records holder after receiving official communication from Guinness World Records recognising an additional title from her September 2025 jollof rice attempt.
In an email dated January 16, 2026, and signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at Guinness World Records’ Records Creative Team, the global body informed Baci that her team’s achievement went beyond the originally announced record.
According to the email, when Baci and her team attempted and successfully achieved the record for the “largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice”, they also met the guidelines for another existing Guinness World Records category. As a result, Guinness World Records said it had “proactively awarded” her the additional title of “largest serving of rice”.
The development means that the September 2025 feat counts as two separate Guinness World Records titles, bringing Baci’s total number of records to three.

Guinness World Records explained that after comparing the record guidelines of the two titles, it became clear that the quantity of rice prepared during the jollof rice attempt satisfied the criteria for both categories. The organisation therefore formally recognised the second title.
Baci shared the email on Instagram on her instagram page, saying she was unaware that her jollof rice attempt had also qualified her for the largest serving of rice record until she received the message.
“Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it,” she wrote. “What I thought was one record turned out to be two.”
The chef said the message came as a surprise, noting that the confirmation arrived about five months after Guinness World Records had publicly announced her jollof rice record.
“When I and Gino Nigeria broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, I thought that was it,” she said. “What I didn’t know, until now, is that on that same day, we had also broken the record for the largest serving of rice overall.”
Baci first rose to international prominence in May 2023 after completing a cooking marathon that earned her a Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon at the time.

Her second major Guinness World Records recognition came in September 2025, when she led a team effort that produced what was confirmed as the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. The event was held in Lagos and supported by Gino Nigeria.
With the newly confirmed additional title, the September 2025 attempt now accounts for two separate records: one specific to Nigerian-style jollof rice and another covering rice dishes more broadly.
Baci described the latest recognition as a reminder that there can be more to an achievement than initially realised. She also credited her team for their work and thanked Guinness World Records for formally recognising the records.

“To my incredible team, this is our win,” she wrote. “Every long day, every detail, every push, it all mattered.”
With this confirmation, Baci now holds three Guinness World Records titles.
