Everyone desires admiration. They seek to present themselves in ways that command attention and receive compliments. And most people do this with what they wear. They aim to slay with their outfits. Whether strutting on the runway, attending a glamorous event, or simply doing the groceries, the objective remains the same: to appear alluring. They want to absolutely nail it in terms of fashion. But the million-dollar question is: how exactly do you achieve that?
What is your idea of slay? When do you feel like you’ve killed it in dressing?
Is it when you are dressed in a fitted, skimpy dress adorned with shiny sequins? Or when your outfit hugs your curves and reveals just enough skin to show how abundantly endowed you are? Perhaps for some, slaying means stocking up on every trendy piece and flaunting them at every event they appear at. Maybe your version of ‘never to be caught unfresh’demands that you layer all the glitters, vibrant colours, pearls, and intricate embroideries that you can find. Until you’ve done this, it doesn’t quite feel like you’re giving off the full ‘Rich Aunty Vibes’ or channelling the ‘Sugar Daddy of Lagos’ energy. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s just worth remembering, as cliché as it sounds, that all that glitters isn’t gold.
And the amazing JibbsLuxury Fashion Brand has defined the distinction between glamour and sophistication. With its newly released collection – Glitz in Modesty – the luxury fashion house demonstrates that sparkle and glamour are not always tantamount to elegance. And that modesty doesn’t necessarily mean lack of style. The brand has come to school the public with its line-up of stunning attires that one can be modest and stylish, that simplicity can slay, too. And boy, do they have a point, because truly, the glamour that matters the most is the one within.
The amazing Jibbs Luxury Fashion Brand has beautifully defined the line between glamour and sophistication. With its newly released collection—Glitz in Modesty—the luxury fashion house shows that sparkle and glamour don’t always equate to elegance, and that modesty doesn’t have to mean a lack of style. With a lineup of stunning outfits, the brand schools us all in the art of refined fashion, proving that one can be modest and stylish, that simplicity can slay, too. And honestly, they’ve got a point, because the kind of glamour that truly matters is the one that radiates from within. Without further ado, let’s get right into the review and slowly uncover Jibbs’ argument for modest dressing through its magnificent works of art.
We begin with this lilac and white-coloured dress. This colour combination is nothing short of cool and calm, something that women with a quiet personality would find attractive. Made with the durable and breathable crepe fabric, the attire is sure to stand the test of time while ensuring the comfort of its wearers. Jibbs luxury fashion house is surely making a statement here: luxury doesn’t shout.

And this is evident from the quiet sophistication that this design carries. From its turtle-neck design to its flowing length, the piece reeks of the traditional attire of a typical Chinese woman. Perhaps, this isn’t coming as a surprise because Jibbs’ fashion brand is big on culture. Under the management of Ajibola Opeyemi, the brand is known to draw its inspiration from traditions across the world, especially Nigeria’s artisanal heritage. But this time, Jibbs travels to adopt the Chinese Cheongsam style. Only that a jacquard fabric was not employed in this instance.
The ankle-length flay dress features a short turtle-neck line that is neatly capped around the wearer’s thick neck. It also incorporates long-sleeved pencil hands with a flay design at the hem of the wrists. The lilac colour-dominated dress has the white crepe fabric forming its flay design at the wrist. This doesn’t just evoke a sense of style; it also perfects the chemistry hidden in the idea behind the concept. In China, the cheongsam has its roots in the Qing Dynasty, characterised by conservative cuts and modest features that signify self-respect. We get it, Jibbs… Morality in fashion isn’t boring, nor is it unstylish.
At both ends of the hands are large buttons, coated with the lilac crepe fabric to add a sense of buzz to the piece. The same is also lined vertically at the left side of the dress’s torso, slightly above the hips. The lower part of the dress has the white fabric once again, forming a slightly pleated addition to the design. While the design has no seams, this pleat functions as the space that allows the wearer to freely move their legs. Thoughtful, no?
The back view is lilac and adds a long zip for easy wearability. This piece has no glitters or glams, yet it’s undoubtedly elegant. Yes, it’s simple, but it’s classy. Point well made: sophistication isn’t necessarily flashy.
Beautiful as this piece is, it’s not without its flaws. Jibbs’ design team has done a great job. However, just a tiny bit more attention to detail is needed to deliver perfection. If only the same level of attention that was paid in crafting the sleeves was deployed throughout the sewing, then the lower part of the dress wouldn’t have threads hanging out at the back.
Overall, anyone will slay in this piece, even with its modesty in design.

Next on the review list is this amazing two-piece design. Made with the jean fabric, the choice of colour is completely rare. This highlights one of the fashion brand’s values – daring to be different. We’re more familiar with the blue and black jeans. More recently, varying colours started emerging. And Jibbs is one of the bold designers to choose sensitive colours such as this off-white. Familiar with luxury, Jibbs proves that slaying is getting styled in the uncommon pieces. Also, the brand quietly implies with this piece that luxury is exclusivity. That slaying is aesthetic appeal and not entirely by lustre.
The jacket is creatively cropped, stopping at the belly area. It also creatively features loose wools from the fabric, forming whiskers that not only make the design stylish but also visually appealing. Wrapped around the torso and held down with two large buttons, the jacket forms a V-neck line with neatly folded collars. The long sleeves are expected and seamlessly befit the style. The thread whisks the hem of the jacket around and traces the outer line of the sleeves.
Paired with the stunning jacket is the short, high-waist skirt. It is adorned with two fake-pocket flaps, each of which also has hemmed around it thread whiskers. It seems the thread thing is the highlight of this design, and it’s lovely. No flashy embroidery. No unnecessary show of skin. Just fabrics and a perfect display of abracadabra; yet this awesome design has us in a chokehold.
The back view is as simple and beautiful as the front view. It’s perfect for a corporate event, casual outing and even more befitting for religious occasions. Jibbs has outdone itself with this piece. Little wonder that it has managed to garner foreign accolades in only a few years of its operation.
No cap, this collection gets better by the piece. Don’t you think? If elegance were a cloth, it would be this piece. It’s giving the entire classy, elegant and slay vibe, and I’m sure that you all agree. Indeed, the corporate environment just got brighter with someone stepping into it wearing this beautiful work of art.

The two-piece features a thoughtfully curated long-sleeved white top and a pair of black pant trousers. First, the cool and safe black and white colour choice evokes power. Women dressed in black and white, amongst other colours, are perceived to be elegant. It’s certainly no by glamour.
As if Jibbs luxury fashion house perceived that we are tired of the traditional button-down shirts, the brand created this beautiful top shirt. It brings innovation into corporate shirts using an array of vertically placed eyelets and a rope in place of the usual buttons or zipper. It also incorporates long sleeves that perfectly suit the design. The neckline cut is also another interesting part of this design. Forming that looks like a zigzag, the brand’s creativity cannot be questioned.
However, getting dressed or undressed in a typical rush hour might prove difficult. But that’s not much of a problem compared to the finishing issues detected on this design. Perhaps, the stitching was not properly done; otherwise, the folds and wrinkles formed on the sleeves wouldn’t be present. Jibbs, we love you, but you need to pay more attention to the finishing of your designs. The pant trouser sits well under this precious top-shirt, and the back view is even more astonishing. Like the front view, its back neckline is equally low, but instead of a zigzag, it’s slightly curved downwards.
We can agree that slaying is relative. However, if your idea of killing it in the fashion world has been contrary to Jibbs’ idea conveyed with its Glitz in Modesty 2025 collection, you should have changed your perception about simplicity by now… because there sure is beauty in simplicity.
