Pastor Cyprian Orakpo, the Pastor in charge of RCCG Lagos Province 5, has marked his 60th birthday with the official launch of the O-Care Foundation, an initiative designed to provide structured social support for the underprivileged.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Tuesday at the provincial headquarters, where the celebrant reflected on the evolving meaning of life as he entered a new decade.

“What is life?” Pastor Orakpo asked, noting that his understanding at 50 differed significantly from his perspective now at 60. “As I reflected on the meaning of life through the Word of God, my perspective about life began to change. As Christians, we are expected to show compassion, and God will judge those He has given opportunities to demonstrate compassion.”

He acknowledged the inequalities of life, observing that while existence can be challenging for all, some face disproportionately greater hardships not as a measure of their sinfulness, but as a reality of the human condition.
“God would like to measure our lives by how much compassion we have shown to people in the journey of life,” he stated, explaining his motivation for institutionalising social services through the foundation.

Outlining the foundation’s four core objectives, Pastor Orakpo who is also the founder/Managing Director of O-Care Manufacturing Nigeria said the foundation will ensure no person acquitted by the courts remains in any correctional center due to inability to pay fines, identifying hospital patients whose treatment costs exceed their budget and providing relief, establishing a feeding programme through collaboration with major hotels and restaurants and, provision of small-scale support to petty traders and entrepreneurs.

He further explained that the foundation has identified about four sets of beneficiaries, including schools for the blind, special needs schools for children, and orphanages.

Apostle Folorunsho Alakija, in a special tribute, described Pastor Orakpo as “one of the shining examples of a detribalised Nigerian.”
“He is a man who sees people, not tribes; who builds bridges, not walls; and who goes out of his way to make everyone around him better,” she said.

Intercontinental Evangelist of RCCG, Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye, while unveiling the foundation, regretted that compassion remains scarce among many and urged Christians to pray for this virtue.
“God wants us to be a blessing. It is a divine expectation to be your brother’s keeper,” Kalejaiye declared.
