There are limits but it is never in the area of music. Contemporary music has cut curtains, overridden stereotypes defined in the past, and all is laid in the realm of imagination and creativity of singers. Outlandish but true that young Nigerian musician, Inegbenojie Onosetale, fondly referred to as Swaskid, composed lyrics compelling enough to heal the souls of those who listen to it.

A graduate of Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, Swaskid hails from Esan West Local Government Area of the state. His type of music could be screaming weird, but it puts him in a class of his own among budding singers in the country. He chose his path to be an entertainer, despite the opposition from his strict dad. Many in the industry were inspired by thespians they share identity with, however, the strangest thing about the AAU alumni is that inspiration to do music came naturally.

“Growing up was a bit tough as my dad was a disciplinarian and wasn’t in full support of my musical aspirations, but I somehow navigated and snuck out a couple of times to go to the studio. I do meaningful healing music. I don’t think anyone inspired me per se, I think music has always been in me and I just never had the opportunity to explore it until now”, the talented musician said in a recent interview.

Prominence found Swaskid long before he made the decision to make himself known. His talent has endeared him in the industry to other senior artistes and performers, some of who have invited him to open their gigs. The exposures has been valuable and have birthed his own ambition; an optimism of his journey to stardom.

“I have opened for a lot of Artist for their shows/concerts ranging from them all love!but i would say my Fav would be at the show and least Fav would be when i performed at BasketMouth show in Ekohotel I do have a show next year which will be my first headline show. I am releasing my first Extended Play gospel song named Jehovah”, said Swaskid

The extraordinary is birthed in uncommon places. The kind of Inegbenojie Onosetale’s lyrics are not the type picked up on the street; they are deep and the sort that revives the soul. He disclosed that he receives a rush of inspiration while airborne.

“It varies depending on the mood I am in. I really could create music anywhere I find myself, but for whatever reason  I am more inspired when i’m on the plane mood”, he said when asked how he comes about his lyrics.

His kind are hugely sought-after for his choice of music. It is much easier to create music for listeners to groove, but it must be both therapeutic and surgical, for the lyrics of a song to bring healing to the soul of an audience, through the instrumentalist of music. Deep calleth unto deep. Swaskid reveals he would love to work with the likes of Johnny Drille and Sam Smith in the future. “David, Sam smith, Giveon , The Weekend, Jhene Aiko , Bruno Mars, Future, Beyonce, Giveon, Chris Brown,  Guetta, Rema, Wizkid, Johnny Drille just to mention a few,” he listed musicians on his admiration list.
