Will usher in a new era of fearless filmmaking in African film industry – Williams

The much-anticipated crime-action blockbuster, Brotherhood, a movie based on two brothers (twin) being on opposite sides of the law – the police force and a notorious gang of robbers – has finally hit the big screens in the cinemas across African countries including Nigeria, Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger Republic, Senegal, Congo, Rwanda, Gabon, Guinea, and Madagascar, with plans for an appearance in Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).

Produced by award-winning filmmaker, Jade Osiberu, alongside Abdul Tijani-Ahmed; the film, officially released on Friday, September 23, boasts of Nollywood A-list cast including Sam Dede, Ronke Oshodi, Zubby Michael, OC Ukeje, singer Folarin Falana better known by his stage name Falz the Bahd Guy, Tobi Bakre, , Bright Okpocha (Basketmouth), Toni Tones, Omawunmi Jidekene Achufusi, Debo Adedayo popularly known as Mr. Macaroni with BBNaija stars Boma Akpore, Diane Russet, Dorathy Bachor and Seyi Awolowo.

The movie which was directed by Ugandan filmmaker, Loukman Ali, tells the story of twin brothers Akin (Tobi Bakre) and Wale (Falz), who find themselves on different sides of the law after a series of unfortunate events.

Speaking about the film as revolutionary and iconic, one of the executive producers and chairman, AW Network, Adebola Williams, said “Brotherhood will usher in a new era of fearless filmmaking in the African film industry. This is why AW Network has partnered with the uber-talented Jade Osiberu-led Greoh Studios to push the frontiers in our storytelling.”

Williams also said that he expects the film to smash box office records easily and go down in history as one of the greatest action movies to come out of the continent.

Osiberu recently inked a three-year overall deal with Amazon Prime Video that will see her develop and produce original scripted TV series and feature films for the global streaming giant/service.

The news comes on the heels of Gangs of Lagos, an action thriller that became the first Prime Video Original out of Africa. The blockbuster will go straight to the streaming platform for international viewing.

Widely recognised for her critically acclaimed, award-winning directorial debut, Isoken, Osiberu is also an accomplished writer and producer with films such as the box office smash Sugar Rush and the highly rated musical biopic Ayinla.

Prior to the September 23 release, the movie the movie premiered at the Jewel Aeida in Lekki, Lagos on Friday, September 16, with a show for fun seekers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, on Sunday, September 18.

To usher the release of the movie, the glamorous premiere event was filled with excitement and fun, with the cast chicly dressed in various outfits that depicts their dramatic roles as megastars in the entertainment industry and befitting of the event theme.

It was also an evening of captivating moments, which saw spectators commending the sponsor, Fearless Energy drink, a brand from the stable of Rite Foods Limited, for its support for the movie industry in the country.

At the end of the show, the screen idols and the viewers affirmed that the movie fits the bill of a modern creative storyline and quality production with the display of exceptional skills.

Commending the energy drink brand for the support, Osiberu, said the premium brand has helped in bringing what obtains in real life to theatrical performance, thus enlightening the populace of the consequences of criminal practices and how it impacts society, with much caution for self-discipline.

She further applauded the effort of the award-winning drink brand for promoting the good cause of the movie industry and also for taking it to an enviable height.
