The Toronto Tribute Award Will Honour Brendan Fraser For Performance
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Tribute Award for Performance will go to Brendan Fraser for his role in the upcoming A24 film “The Whale.”
Cameron Bailey, CEO of TIFF, made the announcement which said “Brendan Fraser gives a performance of staggering depth, power and nuance in ‘The Whale. This former Torontonian has been an action star, a screen comic and a romantic lead. We’re thrilled to welcome him home as the actor behind one of the finest performances of the year.”
In “The Whale,” directed by Darren Aronofsky, a solitary English teacher who is severely obese makes one final effort to reconcile with his estranged teenage daughter. Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, and Samantha Morton are also featured in the A24 film, which is based on the renowned play by Samuel D. Hunter. Elevation Pictures is in charge of distribution in Canada.
On September 11 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, the TIFF Tribute Awards will once again be presented at a live gala fundraiser honouring the 47th Toronto International Film Festival.
