Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, has criticised Nigerian musicians for not supporting the film industry as much as actors promote their music.

In a recent social media post, he expressed his desire for greater collaboration between both industries.

“I really wish musicians supported Nollywood the way we support their music, but that’s a conversation for another day,” he wrote on X on Sunday.

The Nigerian entertainment industry has long seen crossovers, with musicians featuring in Nollywood films and actors trying their hand at music. Many actresses have also appeared in music videos, further blending the two worlds. Despite this connection, Egbuson’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns about the balance of mutual support.

Beyond the entertainment industry, Egbuson also shared his views on modern relationships. Speaking in an interview with TVC, he lamented the rise of short-term relationships, blaming social media for setting unrealistic expectations.

“Sometimes, it does get lonely. You realise the power of your energy and can’t just let anybody in,” he said.

The actor expressed frustration with fleeting romantic connections, saying many people end relationships prematurely due to misleading online advice.

“We live in a woke generation where there’s so much misinformation about relationships. Maybe your partner is treating you well, but you see a TikTok video titled ‘Seven Signs He Is Not Your Man,’ and because it slightly aligns with your reality, you leave,” he explained.

Egbuson emphasised the importance of genuine, lasting relationships, urging people to focus on real connections rather than chasing unrealistic ideals fueled by social media trends.
