In a recent podcast episode, renowned media personality Toke Makinwa offered advice to women seeking to connect with wealthy men during the holiday season. Makinwa, who rose to prominence in 2010 as a co-host of Rhythm 93.7 FM’s ‘The Morning Drive Show,’ drew on her experience to provide valuable recommendations for navigating Lagos’ upscale social scene.

Speaking on her podcast, Toke Makinwa pinpointed areas like Banana Island, Ikoyi, Victoria Island (VI), and Lekki Phase 1 as the domains of the city’s most affluent and influential men. Her advice focused on steering away from conventional nightlife options and, instead, attending house parties in these high-end Lagos neighborhoods.
However, Makinwa mentioned the importance of having a budget and cultivating connections for a seamless experience in exclusive locales. “You have to have the budget for enjoyment first because high-profile men don’t go to slums,” she emphasized. Being well-connected, according to her, is key to gaining access to the refined environments where wealthy individuals frequent.
Encouraging a shift from noisy clubs, Toke urged ladies to opt for house parties this Christmas. She pointed out that these gatherings, particularly in areas like Banana Island, Ikoyi Southwest, Victoria Island, and possibly Lekki Phase 1, offer a more conducive setting for meaningful connections.
