Nollywood film critic and radio broadcaster Tolu Fagbure has recalled an encounter with actress Mo Bimpe, describing her conduct during a 2018 movie project as unprofessional.

Fagbure shared the experience while discussing his time in the Nigerian film industry. He said someone had recommended Bimpe to him for a movie he was working on, after which he contacted her and sent her the script. According to him, Bimpe did not respond to the script for about three days.

“When I reached out to her, she said she was sorry, was on a film location, and that I needed to lock down the script,” he said. Fagbure said he contacted her again, but she told him she was still busy on a movie location and asked him to explain the story to her instead of reading the script.

He said he took issue with the request because he expected the actress to read the material that had been sent to her.
“That was unprofessional of her,” Fagbure said.

He also recalled questioning Bimpe about his position in the industry during their conversation. “I asked if she didn’t hear my name and I wasn’t one of their tacky film practitioners,” he said.

Fagbure said Bimpe eventually read the script after their conversation and later contacted him. Reflecting on the incident years later, he suggested that her response at the time may have been deliberate or an attempt to show off.
“I guess it was deliberate, or she wanted to show off,” he said.

Fagbure added that he believed Bimpe, who is now married to fellow actor Lateef Adedimeji and professionally known as Adebimpe Oyebade Adedimeji, may have changed since the incident. “I believe she must have better sense now that she is Adebimpe Oyebade Adedimeji,” he said.

The comments have drawn attention online as Fagbure continues to share his views about professionalism and acting in Nollywood.

His remarks come at a time when discussions about actors’ conduct on movie sets, punctuality and relationships between actors and filmmakers continue to generate debate within the Nigerian film industry.

Fagbure has also spoken publicly about other Nollywood practitioners in recent months. In May, he praised Bimbo Ademoye’s acting ability while raising concerns about what he described as indiscipline in the industry. More recently, he criticised actress Eniola Ajao’s acting, prompting a public response from the actress. Bimpe has not publicly responded to Fagbure’s latest comments at the time of writing.
