Travis Scott has vowed to cover the funeral expenses of the eight victims who died in the 2021 Astroworld Festival Tragedy.

According to a statement released by his representatives on Monday, the Houston-born artist will also partner with BetterHelp to provide free mental health services to those affected by the tragedy.

“Travis remains in active conversations with the city of Houston, law enforcement and local first responders to respectfully and appropriately connect with the individuals and families of those involved,” the statement reads. “These are the first of many steps

Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process.”
CNN reports that Astroworld organizers will also provide a full refund to ticketholders — both those who attended Friday and those who held tickets for Saturday’s cancelled events.

In another statement on Monday, Live Nation confirmed that the company is “working on ways to support attendees, the families of victims, and staff” by providing mental health counselling and helping out with hospital costs.

Speaking on the Astroworld tragedy, Travis Scott wrote on social media, “I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival.”

The devastating events at the Astroworld Festival on Friday had left eight people dead and over 300 injured.

Scott’s partner, Kylie Jenner, was in attendance at the festival and posted a statement to say that she and Scott did not know what was happening in the crowd during the performance.

The couple has also been branded “irresponsible” and come under fire for taking their daughter Stormi to the show, given the history of Scott’s shows.
