Travis Scott Removed From 2022 Coachella Lineup
Travis Scott has been dropped from the 2022 Coachella lineup despite offering to perform for free.
The fallout from the Astroworld Tragedy continues to follow rapper Travis Scott weeks after the deadly festival that claimed the lives of ten people.
In a more recent turn of events, the rapper has been dropped from the lineup of one of the world’s biggest music festivals Coachella, despite offering for free.
The news comes as over 60,000 people signed a Change.Org petition to remove the rapper from the festival’s lists of performers after the Astroworld Festival in Houston on Nov. 5. The petition urged Goldenvoice, AEG and festival co-founder Paul Tollett to drop Scott, claiming that the rapper displayed “gross negligence and sheer lack of compassion for human life.”
YahooNews reports that Scott will not make his return to the stage as a headliner for Coachella 2022 as the organizer’s do not want him to perform even for free.
According to Variety, Coachella told the rapper’s agent, Cara Lewis, that they intended to remove him from the lineup, and would pay a kill fee to have him no longer perform.
After Coachella’s producer Goldenvoice released a statement officially dropping Travis Scott as the headliner for its April 2022 three-day festival, Travis’ booking agent Cara Lewis reportedly presented the offer that he would instead perform for free which was quickly declined.
This is the latest report in light of November’s Astroworld festival, which claimed the lives of ten people, injured dozens of others and has resulted in multiple lawsuits totalling hundreds of billions.
Back in 2019, Scott was announced as the Coachella headliner. However, the festival was pushed to April 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coachella 2022 will only have two headliners, Rage Against The Machine and Swedish House Mafia.
As of now, Travis Scott has not publicly responded to being dropped from the Coachella festival.
