Triple H Undergoes Surgery After Cardiac Event

WWE announced Triple H is recuperating after a successful surgery following a recent cardiac event.

The statement reads:

Paul Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, underwent a successful procedure last week at Yale-New Haven Hospital following a cardiac event. The episode was caused by a genetic heart issue and Paul is expected to make a full recovery.

While Triple H is a very accomplished WWE legend, he has not been as physical in the ring in recent years. He is not formally retired as a wrestler, but he has mostly traded in the tights for a suit as he’s gotten more involved in the business dealings of WWE.

He is now the WWE Executive Vice President, Global Talent Strategy & Development, and until recently was one of the major voices backstage guiding NXT.

However, all of that is subject to change as NXT undergoes a rebranding. A promotional teaser for NXT offers a glimpse at what is in store for superstars and fans when NXT relaunches. Gone are the dark background and black-and-gold logo, replaced with a multicolor barrage.

September 14 is the date circled for the new NXT to debut, with reports that Vince McMahon and Bruce Pritchard will be running the developmental brand instead of Triple H.

There are rumors NXT will focus on training the next generation of WWE Superstars, instead of relying on the signing of big-name independent talents as reported by CBR.

Names such as CM Punk and Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson have decided against signing with WWE, opting to sign contracts with WWE’s competitor AEW.

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley slammed WWE’s creative team for mishandling its young talent, which he attributes to stars looking to part ways with the company.

Triple H, real name Paul Levesque, first joined WWE in 1995 as Hunter Hearst Helmsley, a snobby character nicknamed the “Connecticut Blueblood.”

He later shortened the name to Triple H and took on more of an edge when he formed the supergroup D-Generation X with Shawn Michaels, Chyna, X-Pac, Billy Gunn, and Jesse James.
