Tunde Onakoya, Veekee James to host 2024 Future Awards Africa

The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) has announced Tunde Onakoya and Veekee James as co-hosts for its 18th edition, scheduled for Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. This year’s theme, “Celebrating the Great and the Daring,” promises an evening honouring young achievers who’ve made impactful strides across Africa.

Tunde Onakoya, recognised for his work with Chess in Slums Africa, won the TFAA Prize for Community Action in 2021. Through his initiative, he has provided educational opportunities to underprivileged children in communities such as Makoko and Oshodi.

He is also celebrated for setting a Guinness World Record for the longest marathon chess game and is once again a nominee this year, marking his continued journey with TFAA.

Joining him is notable fashion designer, Veekee James, who bagged the 2023 TFAA Prize for Fashion.

Known for her red carpet designs and her ventures as a gospel singer, Veekee has built the Veekee James brand as a go-to name in high-fashion circles. Her flair for creativity promises a stylish and memorable awards night.

Speaking on this year’s hosts, Executive Director of TFAA, Ayodeji Razaq, expressed his confidence in the duo.

He said, “We are confident that Tunde and Veekee are the perfect pair to lead this year’s celebration. Both Tunde and Veekee have walked the path from nominees to winners, embodying the excellence, resilience, and innovation we seek to highlight and inspire in others.

“They represent the very spirit of The Future Awards Africa—a platform committed to celebrating young African talent that pushes boundaries and drives meaningful change. Their charisma, coupled with a unique blend of social impact and creative innovation, will create an unforgettable night.”

The event is supported by Knorr, Mavin Records, Vesti, Infinix Mobility, Fayrouz, Tiger, Legend Twist, Dukiya Investment Ltd, Alpha & Jam, and Guardian Life magazine.
