Yesterday, news went viral that Nollywood actress, Venita Akpofure’s five-year-old marriage to Terna Tarka has hit the rocks.

The news of the screen star’s split from Tarka with whom she shares two children was on people’s lips for all the wrong reasons as some quarters even reported that the actress suffered domestic violence.

The actress has however come to social media to deny the domestic violence part of the story stating that the decision to end their marriage is a mutual decision and she was never the victim of domestic violence as her estranged husband is not a violent man.

Taking to her Insta stories, she wrote,

“Much love to you all,

No one is perfect and these things can happen to anyone.  However, I want to make one thing clear which is I am not a victim of domestic violence. My ex is not also a violent person and is indeed a great father to our wonderful and precious little girls.

We have mutually split and are great friends and even better co-parents to our children in our family that we started. God bless you all.”

It would be recalled that while celebrating her marriage anniversary in 2017, the actress had shared a photo of herself and Tarka with their first child. She captioned the image,

“Happy Cotton Anniversary Mr Tarka ??? ??? You are truly a blessing from God. Thank you for being my partner, husband, lover and friend. Marriage is a relationship in which one is always right and the other is the husband?? Happy anniversary!”
