Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences following the sad news of the passing of the renowned broadcaster, Aisha Bello Mustapha.

Reports indicate that the popular television presenter from the ’90s and early 2000s passed away after a brief illness in Abuja, the country’s capital.

In a statement signed by spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on behalf of President Tinubu, sincere apologies and solemn respect were extended to the late broadcaster’s family, friends, and colleagues. The statement described Aisha as one of the great icons of Nigerian broadcast media.

“During her time as the presenter of the flagship ‘NTA Network News at 9’, Nigerians and viewers around the world looked forward to seeing her smile, warmth, and wisdom as she delivered news that can be trusted objectively.

“She mentored many young women who took to broadcasting, mainly by watching and listening to her eloquence, passion, and integrity on the screen, in the newsroom, and off the screen.

“Her legacy in broadcast journalism lives on in the rich news archives she leaves behind and the contributions she made to the development of broadcasting in Nigeria. She brought news to life and will continue to be a beacon to inspire generations in the beautiful art of broadcasting,” the President stated.

President Tinubu prays God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and comfort for those who mourn.

Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) is sad as Aisha Bello Mustapha, a famous broadcaster, has passed away. A reliable source from NTA confirmed the sad news. Aisha’s funeral prayer will be at 1 pm on Monday at the National Mosque in Abuja.

Aisha was a well-known face on NTA Network News at 9 PM in the ’90s and early 20s. She was the General Manager at NTA Parliament. After working for 35 years, Aisha retired in May 2022.

Her family shared a statement, saying, “May Allah forgive our Mother Hajia Aishat Bello Mustapha. Mama, you are a very kind-hearted person. We will miss you. Funeral Prayer at central mosque Abuja, 1 pm on Monday, 11th December 2023.”

Aisha had a successful 35-year career. She was well-known for her work as a major caster on NTA Network News at 9 PM during the 1990s and early 20s.

Education-wise, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna state.
