Two Big Brother Naija housemates, Thelma Lawson and Bright Morgan, were evicted in an unexpected Saturday night twist that followed the weekly party, altering the competition’s rhythm with just two weeks left in the season.
Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced the eviction during his visit to the house, first calling Thelma’s name and later Bright’s, in what many housemates described as a “shocking” departure from the usual Sunday format.
Thelma, speaking moments after leaving the house, said she had prepared for possible eviction but did not expect it to come on a Saturday night. “I thought I had at least until Sunday to see what happens. Big Brother caught us off guard,” she said.
Bright, who followed soon after, told the live audience that he was grateful for the experience despite the abrupt exit. “I came here to learn and to show myself. I didn’t win, but I leave with memories and connections I will never forget,” he said.
Inside the house, the mood shifted quickly. Several contestants expressed disbelief over the timing. “I was shocked, honestly. It makes you realise nobody is safe, not even for one night,” one housemate remarked after Ebuka departed.
Ebuka himself used the opportunity to remind the remaining contestants of the stakes. “Every moment counts. You don’t know when it will be your turn, so bring your best into this game,” he told them before leaving.
Big Brother has occasionally introduced Saturday evictions in past seasons, often to heighten tension and alter the dynamics in the house. This year’s surprise removal has already sparked conversations among fans online, many of whom described the move as “a wake-up call” to the housemates.
With Thelma and Bright gone, the competition enters its final stretch with fewer contestants and higher stakes.
