Veteran Nigerian singer, Daddy Showkey in his reaction to the recent arrest of Nigerian singer, Naira Marley by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has slammed the “Am I A Yahoo Boy” crooner.

According to Daddy Showkey, he didn’t initially react to the arrest and the purported involvement of Ruggedman in initiating the arrest because he cannot endorse a small child (Naira Marley) insulting an elder (Ruggedman), especially when the elder is right.

Daddy Showkey who admitted that in his younger years, he lived a dangerous life on the streets said that it does not mean he will advise his child or any young person to live the same way and make the same mistakes he made. He also added that he believes Naira Marley made the disrespectful comments under the influence of a substance he smoked.

In his video that was uploaded on Instagram, Daddy Freeze also pleaded with the authorities to release Naira Marley and simply caution him so he can see his recent arrest as a lesson.

Sharing the video, he captioned it,

“Temper justice with mercy. This is just a young man growing up. Let’s not use his mistakes to spoil his career we all went through so many things growing up….we can use him as a spoke man to young people against crime @officialefccmay be he will learn with this.”

In an earlier report, the EFCC had said that it would charge Naira Marley to court because there is ample evidence against him for connections to cybercrime, Naira Marley who has been a vocal supporter of cybercrime popularly called  Yahoo Yahoo was arrested alongside fellow singer, Zlatana Ibile, Rahman Jago and two others. However, Zlatan Ibile and Rahman Jago have since been released on Tuesday, May 14 night as Nair Marley continues to remain in detention.

Ruggedman who expressed joy at Naira Marley’s had on his part said he hopes the arrest will serve as a reality check to the singer and also deter others involved in yahoo yahoo. He had however denied involvement in the arrest of Naira Marley as widely speculated.
