Businesswoman and society matron, Shade Okoya, has revealed that marrying her billionaire husband, Chief Razak Okoya, at the age of 21 brought her nothing but happiness and fulfilment.
She made this known during a recent chat with BBC Yoruba, where she talked about her marriage and life choices.
According to her, despite the age gap, she has never felt like she missed out on anything by marrying early or choosing an older partner.
Shade said, “My husband has been very generous to me and defends me everywhere. God said this is where I will be. We met each other, and he liked me.”
“I’m happy in my marriage to him. He is far older than me, but I don’t think I ever missed out on anything because I didn’t marry a younger man. I remember when he expressed his interest in me – it was straightforward, and he got down to business by meeting my parents and doing the needful in no time.”
Shade, now 48, married Chief Okoya in 1999 when she was 21. Her husband, now 85, was already a well-known industrialist and founder of Eleganza Industries.
Since their marriage, Shade has grown to become a household name in Nigeria’s fashion and business circles, often praised for her elegance and loyalty.
She said her decision to marry young was guided by destiny and not pressure, adding that her marriage remains one of her greatest blessings.
