My father-in-law wanted to control Mohbad’s properties, says Omowunmi

Omowunmi, widow of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has accused her late husband’s father, Joseph Aloba, of attempting to take control of the singer’s properties.
The ongoing dispute between both parties initially centered on the paternity of her son, Liam, with Aloba insisting on a DNA test.
Despite a Magistrate’s Court ruling in Ikorodu on July 9, 2024, directing them to settle on a medical facility for the test, they failed to reach an agreement. Both sides rejected each other’s preferred hospitals, further escalating tensions.
However, in an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, set for full release at 5 PM today, Omowunmi claimed that her father-in-law wanted to control her husband’s properties.

She also said that her life had been threatened since the singer’s passing.
“We no longer feel safe. I get death threats almost every day in my DMs. It has really gotten to a point where I either speak up or die in silence.”
“My father-in-law wanted to control my husband’s properties—everything that belonged to him—or he would go all out to destroy my life. He was even the one who initiated the marriage. He was the happiest, yet now he’s a grandfather being mean to his own grandchild.”
While addressing the paternity dispute, Omowunmi maintained that she has always been willing to undergo a DNA test.
“I made it clear that I was ready for the DNA test. They said that once the DNA is done, I shouldn’t tell the public the result.”
She further accused Aloba of making degrading remarks about her son, questioning his physical features and legitimacy.
“He said Liam has bow legs and that they don’t have such a child in their family. He said Liam’s face looks older than him. A man who is almost 60 claims to look younger than a little child.”
She also recounted shocking claims allegedly made by her father-in-law about Mohbad’s intentions toward their son.
“He even went as far as saying my husband wanted to throw my baby into the Third Mainland Bridge.”
Since the singer’s death in September 2023, his family has been locked in a heated conflict.
