Why Everyone Is Mixing Their Foundation With Water On TikTok
If you’ve seen anyone mix their foundation with water on TikTok lately, you’ve probably wondered what this latest beauty trend is about and why it keeps growing in popularity.
Beauty gurus have found inventive ways of creating flawless makeup looks and ensuring they stay in place all day. This time, the latest hack focuses on providing maximum glow and staying power with your foundation application. The trick behind this is to mix your foundation with water; the whole idea behind this is to create a perfect base by mixing your foundation with some water to make it more luminous and transfer-proof. This trend was started by @bodywhy_official. In a video which has earned 4.3 million views, the TikToker squeezes foundation into a beaker of water.

The Hack
Adding water to your water-based foundation changes its viscosity. A water-based foundation typically thins in texture during application causing it to evaporate quickly once applied. So, while it looks lighter and dewier during the application, it may not add any extra hydration since the water evaporates during the day.
To pull off the water-foundation mix, use a water-based foundation as silicon or oil-based formulas don’t mix well with water.
While this works, an alternative is to use serum or moisturizers with humectant in them to bind water to the skin cells. This hack gives you seamless, hydrating coverage allowing your makeup last longer without creases.
Final Judgement
This dewy foundation hack works great for transfer-proof long-lasting makeup; however, a much easier way to pull this off is with the proper skincare routine and base and some setting spray. We’d also have to mention that you need to squirt more foundation than you usually do into the mix, which could mean more to waste.
