Why I was never close to Wizkid – Skales
Nigerian singer Skales has clarified his relationship with fellow artiste Wizkid, saying they were never close friends.
Skales, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, started a conversation on X on how people have changed towards him after gaining fame.
“You know how many people I have given a platform and when they made it, they switched on me but I’m still here and still being blessed by God … I’m unstoppable… I am from Kaduna with Edo in my blood … I am Martina’s son,” the singer started.

The post elicited a variety of responses, with one user, @aurora94212924 who brought Wizkid into it.
“You switched on Wiz too, becoming friends with his enemies just to spite him… Always an underdog, Werey,” the user put it to him.
In response, Skales quickly dismissed the allegation, stating, “I never switched on him… he doesn’t like me… we were never close friends, but we were both EME members… so let it go.
Another user, @Dimexbaba01 joined the conversation: “Liking you no be by force, he no dea fuck with you because he no want you, you just dea cap shi*.”
Skales responded: “Na una dey bring him matter come anytime wey I dey yarn my own so I gusto clear all the lies wey dem dey push hope him go talk wetin I do am … I no want make him like me either.”
The singer continued: “Una wan push say I hate person meanwhile I just dey live my life neither do I send anybody… I can never hate on no man … I am blessed too like super blessed … I don finish with this matter… this is all the negative energy I can give for the year.”
In 2000, Skales began composing rap songs in Kaduna and between 2007 and 2008, he travelled to Jos to collaborate with Jesse Jagz and Jeremiah Gyang.
He has worked with a variety of artists such as Akon, ELDee, Tekno, Harmonize, Jeremiah Gyang, Banky W. and Knighthouse.
