According to a study reported in The Journal of Sexual Medicine by an Italian university, eating chocolates can increase the level of desire, arousal and sexual satisfaction. As female participants who consumed at least one cube of chocolate a day experienced more active libidos and better overall sexual function than those who didn’t indulge.

Here are four ways to harness the powers of chocolate to feel healthier and sexier:

Increases blood flow to sexual organs
For both men and women, chocolate possess L-arginine,an amino acid which can be an effective natural sex enhancer. It works by promoting the amount of blood flow and nitric oxide to your sexual organs and also increases sensation, desire and satisfaction.

Stimulates and elevates mood
Chocolate is known as a super libido food because it is a rich source of PEA, the acronym for phenylethylamine, also referred to as the “love supplement” or the “romance chemical.” As a stimulant and mood elevator, PEA has the ability to induce sensations of euphoria as a stimulant and mood elevator which is naturally released by your brain when you’re in love.

An energy booster
Chocolate contains the compound theobromine, a substance which works on the central nervous system, causing one to feel stimulated and excited and can be found in tea and kola nuts as well.

Benefits your physical heart
Dark chocolate contains L-arginine which lowers blood pressure as there seems to be a deep connection between a healthy physical heart and our capacity to feel and love deeply as well as to live fully. In Chinese medicine, the heart is considered our emotional center as it is associated with love, caring, bonding, and intimacy.
Flavonol found in cocoa beans helps the body’s cell resist damages caused by free radicals and also help in improving blood flow through the heart.
