This looks like it’s going to be a real tussle for the award, but their fans are already excited and anticipating the winner.

Yemi Alade burst onto the music scene in 2009, and her breakthrough came with her hit single, Johnny, in 2013. This smash hit, still one of the most popular Afrobeat songs globally, solidified her as a formidable talent in African pop music.

Since then, Yemi has released five studio albums, including King of Queens (2014), Mama Africa (2016), and Woman of Steel (2019), each showcasing her versatility and dedication to promoting African culture through music. Her latest album, Empress (2020), features a blend of Afrobeat, highlife, and pop, continuing her mission to amplify African music’s reach.

This 67th Grammy nomination is not just a personal milestone for Yemi Alade but also a moment of pride for African music lovers worldwide, proving that African artists are gaining the recognition they deserve.
