Yemi Alade Is Thankful As She Turns 31
Nigerian songstress Yemi Eberechi Alade better known as Yemi Alade a.k.a Mama Africa is 31.
The multiple award-winning singer who is known for the promotion of African heritage through her songs and accompanying videos took to her Instagram page to celebrate her day.
Sharing new photos of herself as a way of acknowledging turning a year older, she captioned:
“It’s my birthday …….#happybirthday Yemi Alade another year , God keeps showing off with me. I am grateful, I am blessed, I am favored, #happybirthday to me.”
The native of Abia State came into limelight after winning the peak talent show in 2009.
She has since gone on to carve a name for herself in the African music space and one of the continent’s leading female music acts.
Her debut studio album King of Queens was released on October 2, 2014, by Effyzzie Music Group. The deluxe edition of King of Queens was released in November 2014 and contains French versions of songs originally performed in English.
According to the music platform, A Nation of Billions, King of Queens sold over 100,000 copies.
In March 2016, she released her second studio album, Mama Africa.
Alade announced that proceeds from the sale of the album will go to the Feed a Child charity initiative. The deluxe edition of the album was released on April 6, 2016.
Alade’s third studio album Black Magic was released on December 15, 2017.
In July 2019, Alade became the first African female artist to reach one million subscribers on YouTube. Her song “Johnny” currently holds the YouTube record for the most-watched African Female music video of all time.
In 2019, the superstar released her fourth studio album, Woman of Steel.
