No fewer than twelve persons were feared dead yesterday in a ghastly accident around Siun, along the Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway, Ogun State, when a black Kia Cerato Car collided with a Toyota Sports Space Bus, killing all the passengers.
 
The details of the two vehicles involved are LSR 334 FF for the Toyota Sports Space Van, painted ash, and KJA 806 BT, for the Kia Cerato Black.
 
The accident, which occurred around 1:00pm according to report was caused by the Kia Cerato Car that was on high speed and suffered a burst tyre, as the driver was suspected to have applied break suddenly, which led to him loosing control of the car that left its lane, climbing the road demarcation and raced to the opposite direction where the car collided with a passenger bus, a Toyota Sports Space Bus, that was traveling from Abeokuta onward Sagamu.
 
According to the Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Clement Oladele, the suspected cause of the unfortunate crash that killed all the occupants of the two ill-fated vehicles was tyre burst and speeding.
 
He said: “The people involved were 12 (5 five male adult, six female adult, and a child). The dead victims were taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) mortuary, Sagamu, while the wreckage of the crashed vehicles have been cleared off the road, and traffic restored.”
 
While commiserating with families of the deceased, the Sector Commander informed members of the public whose family members travelled within the period to contact the FRSC Command Abeokuta or Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu for identification of the victims.  
 
He also advised motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition, including driving with good Tyres and avoid excessive speed.
