16 victims rescued as police combat organised crime in Kaduna, Ogun
The Nigeria Police Force has intensified efforts to combat organised crime, particularly human trafficking and kidnapping, as part of its 2025 action plan.
Police spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this while providing updates on recent operations across the country.
According to Adejobi, operatives attached to the Kaduna State Command apprehended three suspects on January 31, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m.
The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Samson Peter, 45-year-old Haruna Duniya, and 58-year-old Abdulazaq Olawole, were caught while trafficking 13 victims to Oyo State in an unmarked vehicle.
The victims were rescued, and investigations are ongoing.
In a separate operation, the Ogun State Command raided a kidnappers’ den on January 29, 2025, following an abduction reported four days earlier.
Adejobi stated that the suspects engaged police operatives in a gun duel, resulting in the neutralisation of five gang members and the rescue of three kidnapped victims.
Items recovered from the scene included arms and ammunition, three mobile phones, N5.2 million in cash, and the victims’ vehicles.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the officers for their gallantry, dedication, and patriotism.
He urged police operatives nationwide to remain steadfast in their commitment to peace and reassured the public of the force’s determination to address security challenges effectively.
