Over 2,000 sets of twins, yesterday, converged at Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa Central Local Government of Oyo State to celebrate World Twins Festival.

Over 2,000 sets of twins, yesterday, converged at Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa Central Local Government of Oyo State to celebrate World Twins Festival.

The state Government, through the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism in conjunction with Ibarapa Central Local Government, Igbo-Ora Progressive Union, Twins World Creation and Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) presented the multifunctional promotion of twins’ cultural heritage.

The maiden edition of Twins Festival, which held at Methodist Grammar School, Igbo-Ora, started with the gathering of twins and others at Cultural Centre Tarmac, Mokola Hill, Ibadan.

The Chairman of Ibarapa Central, Hon. Ibrahim Adegoke, said twins are born in Igbo-Ora more than any part of the world.

He called for more stakeholders’ collaboration to have a more befitting celebration next year and attract more tourists to the community, which will enhance the town and state’s socio-economic status.

The Olu-Aso of Iberekodo, HRH Oba Jamiu Adedamola Badmus, charged stakeholders to work out the model towards making the festival a world Tourist Day, in order to generate foreign exchange and boost the community and state’s economy.
