Two sales’ representatives were on Monday arraigned for allegedly stealing not less than 250 cartons of drugs worth N10.02 million from Grace Drugs and Health Care Ltd.

The accused, Frank Edeaghe, 39, and Omotola Hassan,31, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the accused committed the offences at Grace Drugs and Health Care Ltd., on Adeniran Ogunsanya St., Surulere, between March 2 and April 12.

Iseghede said that the complainant, Grace Drugs and Health Care Ltd., discovered that several cartons of drugs were missing when its officials audited the goods in its store.

The complainant alleged that not less than 250 cartons of drugs worth N10.02million were missing.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes three years’ imprisonment for stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Chief Magistrate A.F. Adeeyo in her ruling granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

She said the sureties must be either parents or guardians of the accused and should also produce evidence of three-year’ tax payment.

Adeeyo said that the sureties must be residing within the court’s jurisdiction before adjourning the case till May 21 for further hearing.
