Members of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) governors candidates forum have risen from an emergency meeting with the resolve to pass a vote of confidence on Chief Ralph Nwosu led national working committee (NWC).

The group led by Sen Caleb Zigi who briefed reporters at the party national secretariat in Abuja on behalf of the candidates remarked that it behoves the entire candidates of the party to work in concert with the Nwosu-led NWC to ensure the victory of the party in the 2023 poll.

The position of the party governor’s forum came barely less than a week after the ADC national executive committee (NEC) extended the tenure of the Nwosu-led NWC by an additional year.

The NEC decision followed the attempt by a section of the party states’ chairmen to unseat Nwosu on the basis that his continuous stay in office was in breach of the party constitution.

But the 28 members’ forum insisted that the NEC decision supersedes the interest of aggrieved members of the party bent on displacing the Nwosu-led NWC.

He noted: “We sat down for over two hours and we have agreed generally that the party is supreme, the decision of NEC remains supreme and so candidate whether the presidential candidate, our governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, states Assemblies candidates are subjected to party supremacy.

“We have resolved to keep the party Intact. We have chosen this party because of the leadership it has. It remains the only party that has the candidates on a rescue mission. Therefore we throw our support to the NWC and urge every candidate to be loyal to the party.

“Everybody must follow the instructions of the party and allow the NWC to run the party activities in accordance to our laid down manifesto. This is the only way to save the country

“Our candidates have resolved in their various states to work very hard in the campaign and ensure that nobody comes to break or cause any crack in the party. We felt we should come quickly to nip it in the bud.

“We thereby called the attention of the NWC, the NEC, and our states party chairmen to remain focused and give us the necessary support that we need. We must keep our eyes on the ball, remain focused and do what we are out to do.”
