2023: Saraki will develop, unify Nigeria – Iyorwuese
‘Buhari Has Failed Northerners Security-wise’
Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has been described as the best person that will unify and develop the country, if given opportunity to become President.
The Saraki Contact and Advocacy Council (SCAC), led by former Minister of State for Power and Steel, Prof. Iyorwuese Hagher, stated this in Katsina while meeting with delegates to the coming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention.
Hagher, who represented Benue North-East in the Senate, said, if the former Kwara State governor is given the opportunity to rule the country, he would build on the legacies of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua, as both former governor have common traits.
He lamented that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had not performed to expectation; hence PDP should be given the chance to right the wrongs of APC.
Urging the PDP delegates to ensure that Saraki emerges the party’s candidate for the 2023 presidential election, the former envoy said: “I am here as a leader for Bukola Saraki for Presidency Advocacy and Campaign Council. That is what brought us here to Katsina State, and we are very proud to be here. Also, we are very happy for the reception accorded us by all the party executives, stakeholders and delegates to the PDP conversation later this year. Those are the people we came to address.
“Bukola Saraki is the candidate that is beyond zoning. He is the candidate for all. Nigeria is not about Saraki; it is about the kind of president that Nigeria needs when the APC leaves the scene because of its very poor performance.”
Katsina PDP chairman, Yusuf Salisu-Magiri, said the APC-led government in the state had performed woefully, and could not boast of a single project worth N5 billion.
Meanwhile, Saraki has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly failing Northerners, especially in the area of security in the region.
Saraki made the comment, yesterday, through Hagher, who visited PDP delegates at Kwankwasiyya House in Kano State.
According to him, the rate of kidnapping, banditry and the likes, especially in the North East, is becoming a source of concern to well meaning Nigerians.
He described 2023 as a very important year, as it is the year APC would fight to retain power, even as had reportedly done nothing for eight years.
Saraki lamented that the APC had not fulfilled its pledge to provide stable power, good economy and end Boko Haram activities in the North East.
“We want a better Nigeria. Our children are not in school. We can’t sleep with our wives peacefully. Nigeria had never been so divided along religious, regional and ethnic lines,” he stated.
