2025 Kwara Agro Input Fair gets underway

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has launched the 2025 Kwara Agro Input Fair, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to food security and agricultural transformation in the state.
The five-day fair, organised by the Kwara Agricultural Development Project (KWADP) under the State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, aims to provide farmers with early access to high-quality inputs at subsidised rates, alongside training, mechanisation support, climate advisory services, and market linkages.
“This fair is not just about agro inputs. It is about innovation, knowledge sharing, and creating solutions that will drive agricultural productivity,” the Governor said. “Kwara is not just participating in Nigeria’s agricultural transformation; it is leading the charge. The goal is clear: greater yields, lower food prices, and a thriving, self-sufficient agricultural economy.”
Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, noted that Kwara recorded Nigeria’s lowest food inflation rate for three consecutive months last year, according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). He attributed this achievement to smart policies and strategic investments, applauding local farmers for their role in ensuring food sufficiency.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Oloruntoyosi Thomas, said the fair was designed to equip farmers with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to maximise productivity and profitability. She highlighted the government’s focus on mechanisation, extension services, provision of tractors, and support for dry-season farming.
Beyond subsidised fertilisers, seeds, and agrochemicals, the fair also offers practical workshops on modern farming techniques, pest control, and post-harvest management. Additionally, farmers will receive climate advisory insights from NiMET, security guidance, and access to outgrower schemes for expanded market opportunities.
Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Umar Mahmud Aboki, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for the initiative, describing it as a testament to the administration’s commitment to farmers and the agricultural sector.
