Ahead of the 2027 polls, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday flagged off the Northwest E-Registration Train-the-Trainers Refresher Training in Kaduna, marking a major step in the party’s digital transformation agenda.
Declaring the event open, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, represented by the Deputy National Chairman (North), Dr. Ali Bukar Dalori, said the initiative would modernise membership management and strengthen internal democracy.
“This training is key to preparing our structures for the next political cycle through innovation, discipline, and unity,” Yilwatda said.
The Coordinating Governor of the APC Northwest Zone and Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, commended the effort, describing it as timely and strategic.
He said, “This training reflects our collective commitment to innovation, accountability, and inclusion. Accurate and inclusive registration will enhance our party’s legitimacy and grassroots strength.”
The governor, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Meyare, highlighted Kaduna’s progress in digital governance through initiatives such as the Smart City Project and Open Government Partnership, urging participants to uphold transparency and integrity.
APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu, pointed out that the exercise is part of the party’s drive for innovation and data-driven leadership.
“With the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are building a smart, transparent, and accessible party. Every APC member must be visible, verifiable, and valuable,” Argungu explained.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the E-Registration Organising Committee, Lord Mayor Emma Eneukwu, explained that the digital process covers the seven Northwest states — Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Jigawa, and requires members to present their NIN and INEC registration numbers for verification.
He argued that the initiative would replace manual registration and promote the inclusion of youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
The training featured technical sessions on digital tools, data protection, and grassroots mobilisation, as part of APC’s broader plan to digitise membership records and enhance planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In other news, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, has blamed the rising scourge of human trafficking in Nigeria on years of economic decline and the collapse of industries across the country.
Speaking at the public presentation of a novel titled Vicious Red Circle by Ambassador Alex Ugochukwu Oriaku, Yilwatda said worsening economic conditions have driven many Nigerians into desperate migration and exploitation.
Recalling his experience as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Chair of the African-European Migration and Development Team, he called for inclusive, community-driven strategies to tackle human trafficking.
He expressed optimism that ongoing reforms by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would reposition the economy and create opportunities for the country’s teeming youth population. He, however, stressed that the fight must extend beyond government agencies to involve families, schools, and local communities.
“We can stop this cycle,” he said. “This book challenges us to do so. It must not remain on your shelf — let it remain in your heart. It reflects the pain of vulnerable Nigerians who fall prey to traffickers because of economic despair.”
