Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, lawmaker representing Egbado South and Ipokia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, has called for unity and collaboration among Ogun West indigenes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking against the backdrop of Yewa politics and regional peace, Akinlade urged stakeholders to avoid actions that could undermine Ogun West’s collective interests. He emphasized that peace and tranquillity are essential for the emergence of the best candidate.
“For Yewa to get it right, all hands must be on deck to strategize on how a consensus candidate can emerge, rather than individuals working at cross purposes,” he said.
The fourth-term House of Representatives member reminded party faithful not to engage in the politics of bitterness, stressing that while they are free to align with other politicians, the party’s decision on its candidate will be made at the appropriate time.
Highlighting his contributions to Ogun West over the past 15 years, Akinlade cited strides in education, health, information technology, and the creation of employment opportunities for youths. He described youth empowerment as a cornerstone of his developmental initiatives, positively impacting society and helping to reduce unemployment in the region.
“I have a covenant with my God. I came into this world with nothing and will return with nothing. What gives me joy is giving a helping hand to people. Our empowerment initiatives have indeed helped redefine unemployment in Ogun West and the state at large,” he stated.
Akinlade also praised the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the policy framework has begun transforming Nigeria’s economy and infrastructure. He urged support for Tinubu’s second term, describing his performance as exceeding expectations in economic revival.
He commended Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his efforts in driving economic development and positioning the state as an industrial hub of the country.
