2027: RTEAN backs Tinubu, lauds CNG initiative, transport sector reforms

President of RTEAN, Musa Maitakobi

Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has declared support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The union cited the President’s reforms in the transport sector, particularly the rollout of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles and refuelling infrastructure.

The association pledged nationwide grassroots mobilisation, logistics support, and the activation of its structures across the 774 council areas in the country to secure victory for the Nigerian leader.

President of RTEAN, Musa Mohammed Maitakobi, made the pledge during a courtesy visit by members of the APC Jagaban Squad, during which he was formally crowned Life Patron of the group.

He noted that the Federal Government’s CNG intervention had begun to ease operational costs for transport operators while providing a cleaner and more affordable alternative to petrol and diesel.

According to him, transport unions, including RTEAN, the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), and labour centres, have benefited from the distribution of CNG vehicles under the programme.

He expressed optimism that the reforms could pave the way for the establishment of a dedicated Transport Bank to support operators, similar to the Bank of Industry and the Bank of Agriculture.

“RTEAN chairmen in every state are fully committed to ensuring victory for the APC. Once the campaign officially begins, our mobilisation efforts will be intensified,” Maitakobi said.

He added that the association plans to convene a national convention to publicly reaffirm its political direction and support for the President.
