2027: Wike-led ‘Rainbow Coalition’ will deliver Abuja to Tinubu — Aduda

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike

Former Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda, has declared that the emerging “Rainbow Coalition” under the leadership of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, will mobilise massive support to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Aduda spoke on Tuesday in Abuja while receiving key political stakeholders from across the Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who pledged support for his political movement under the “Renewed Hope Ambassadors.”

The delegation—comprising the ALGON Chairman in the FCT, current and former vice chairmen, exco members, and council leaders—also met with representatives of the national and zonal leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally aligning with the ruling party.

Among those present were council chairmen from Kwali, Kuje, and Bwari Area Councils, alongside the FCT Public Complaints Commissioner, Isyaku Yamawo.

Their defection marks a significant shift in the FCT political landscape, further strengthening the APC’s grassroots structure in the territory.

Aduda said their decision to join the APC was driven by growing confidence in the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu, noting that recent developments in the FCT have rekindled optimism among residents.

He pointed to long-standing challenges such as delayed civil service promotions and limited grassroots development, stating that ongoing interventions—particularly under Wike—are beginning to reverse the trend through infrastructure expansion and rural-focused projects.

According to him, the administration has also deepened transparency in the political process, ensuring a level playing field for all stakeholders. He added that the APC’s control of all six Area Councils reflects increasing public trust in the party.

Aduda further commended President Tinubu for appointing an FCT indigene into the Federal Executive Council, describing the move as a milestone for inclusion and representation.

On his political future, including speculations about a Senate comeback, Aduda said he would defer to the wishes of the people.
“I will listen to the voice of the people, and if that is their wish, so be it,” he said.

In his remarks, the FCT ALGON Chairman, Hon. Danladi Chiya who chairs the Kwali area council described the defection as a strategic alignment with the centre to unlock more development opportunities for the territory.

He maintained that remaining in opposition would have limited the chances of attracting federal attention and resources to the FCT, adding that the decision was taken in the best interest of residents.

The ALGON boss also endorsed Aduda’s leadership, expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver and describing him as a tested political figure with a track record of attracting appointments and opportunities for FCT indigenes.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Kuje Area Council Chairman, Abdullahi Sabo, said their move was aimed at adding value to governance and supporting efforts to improve the welfare of the people.

He assured that the new political alignment would be driven by unity, inclusiveness, and merit-based leadership.

The development signals a growing consolidation of political forces within the FCT under the APC, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the Wike-led coalition and Aduda’s mobilisation will play a decisive role in delivering Abuja for President Tinubu in 2027.
